Hearts to Hand Hearts to Hand is an outreach ministry of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church benefiting the Table of the Good Shepherd Food Pantry by providing food and personal hygiene items for adults and baby supplies for infants in North Terre Haute.
The Table of the Good Shepherd Food Pantry is housed at the Barbour Avenue United Methodist Church 1401 Barbour Ave. It is open the third Tuesday of each month, serving approximately 365 people in the 47804 and 47805 zip code areas.
As of June 2016 we have also taken on the 12 Points Brown Bag Project which provides bag lunches to residents at the Garfield Towers and Warren Village on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Twice a year we take up collections for soup for the brown bags.
How can you help?
1. Donate supplies: food, bars of soap, toilet paper, shampoo, toothpaste, dish washing detergent, diapers. Bring items each week to the Holy Family Center. 2. Donate money through the "Hearts to Hand" envelope in your collection envelopes, or to the poor box located by the baptismal font or the jar in the Holy Family Center. Volunteers will shop and purchase the needed supplies. A donation of $5.00 per month or $1.00 per week will help so much. 3. Donate your time. Volunteer to shop for supplies. Help sort and count the donated supplies. Take donated items to the Table of the Good Shepherd Food Pantry after Sunday mass. 4. Volunteer: The pantry is open the 3rd Tuesday of the month, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. To volunteer contact Ruth McKeag 812-462-1075 or just come by the pantry when it is open. To volunteer for the Brown Bag Project contact the parish office 812-466-1231. There will be frequent updates in the Bulletin regarding our progress.
